The Wanda Houston Project: 2 pm

Singer and actress Wanda Houston is the lead vocalist for a number of projects, including the HBH Jazz Trio, the Convergence Quartet, the VJC Big Band, and The Wanda Houston Band. Houston’s bi-coastal career in theater and music has put her on stages with Barbara Streisand, Patti Austin, Joe Cocker, Celine Dion, and Rick Astley, and on tour with Motown legends The Marvelettes and Mary Wells, Martha and the Vandellas, and The Platters. After touring Europe and Australia in the Michael Jackson–produced “Sisterella,” she performed in New York productions of “Menopause the Musical,” was featured in the Roundabout Theater production of “A Streetcar Named Desire,” and was a soloist in the NYC-based “Broadway Inspirational Voices,” which landed a Grammy nomination for its Christmas album, Great Joy.

She was one of Berkshire Magazine‘s Berkshire 25 in 2022. The ninth annual selection recognizes individuals who are the most dedicated, the most creative, and the most influential people in their fields: “Wanda Houston is our very own Berkshire diva. Born in Chicago, she started singing in gospel choirs and has performed in LA, Hollywood, Las Vegas, Europe, and Australia. In 2006, she settled in the Berkshires full-time, drawing us in with a mesmerizing mix of mid-20th-century jazz and R&B. The Wanda Houston Band performs to packed crowds, from The Mount in Lenox to The Barn in Egremont.”

The Wanda Houston Project will perform a 75-minute set under a tent near the Millay House. This will be The Wanda Houston Project’s first performance at Steepletop.
