Steepletop Open Days 2025 (September 13)

The Steepletop grounds and trails will be open to explore, as will the Gift Shop, and The Jackson Gallery in the Tamarack Visitors Center will feature the exhibition “Edna St. Vincent Millay: Life at Steepletop, 1925-1950.” This collection presents artifacts from Millay’s 25 years at Steepletop.

Docent-led 60-minute House tours are available at the times listed below. House tour tickets do not require advance purchase but are strictly limited. Purchasing these tickets in advance is strongly encouraged to secure your spot on a tour. Grounds and Picnic passes may be purchased in advance or on site on the days of the event.

Consider bringing a friend (or two) and a picnic lunch. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Steepletop, Open Day visitors are encouraged to dress in their favorite Millay attire!

An event ticketing surcharge of 2.9% + $0.30 will be added to the total price of the tickets.
Due to the very limited number of available tickets, purchases are non-refundable.

Musical Performance

Katie Barbato: 2 pm

Katie Barbato is an alternative folk artist living in Pennsylvania. She is a four-time finalist in the International Songwriting Competition and a finalist in the Unsigned Only Competition. Katie was featured in Billboard magazine (May 2024) and was one of TAXI’s Top 10 Artists for January 2024. She has performed at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Club Passim Campfire Festival, the Hotel Cafe, and the Sellersville Theatre. Barbato composes music for TV and film, such as the theme she wrote for the movie Sugar, starring Shenae Grimes and Marshall Allman. Her song “Magical Ending” was recently featured in the Netflix hit dramas “Virgin River” and “Yankee,” and the MTV series “Busch Family Brewed.” Katie’s song “October Sea” was featured on the Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch.” Her song “The Art of Falling” was featured on “The Bachelor” in Denmark. Several of her songs have been featured on the Australian hit television show “Neighbours.”

In 2010, Katie received permission from The Millay Society to record 12 songs she had crafted set to the poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay. Katie released her album The Millay Tapes on October 22, 2011, to a sold-out crowd at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia. The Millay Tapes is available on ITUNES.

Katie will perform a 45-minute set under a tent near the Millay House. This will be Katie Barbato’s second performance at Steepletop.
