Live In-The-Moment Typewriter Poetry with The Sweet Slow in Millay’s Writing Cabin: 11 am – 4 pm

Jess Bowe is a poet, storyteller, and the visionary behind The Sweet Slow, a brand and practice devoted to the art of poetic presence. Residing in the Hudson Valley, she offers live typewriter poetry, poetic writing experiences, legacy creation, and immersive creative offerings; each is designed to slow time and invite us to see the ordinary with extraordinary perception.

Jess of The Sweet Slow brings the art of live typewriter poetry to the Millay writing cabin, offering an intimate and enchanting experience where words are woven in-the-moment, inspired by a brief conversation, a single word, or a feeling shared by the recipient. Each poem is typed on cotton paper, becoming a one-of-a-kind keepsake—a tangible piece of poetry to hold onto, gift, or cherish forever.

Here’s how it works:

  • Welcome to the table. Visit with Jess and share your curiosities, questions, and wonderings. Guests are invited to share a word, a thought, or a feeling. Not sure where to begin? That’s okay, too. Jess will intuitively craft something just for you.
  • Watch the magic unfold. With the rhythm of the typewriter keys, a bespoke poem comes to life in real time.
  • Receive your poem. In just a few minutes, you’ll hold a completely unique, hand-typed poem, written just for you. Whether playful, heartfelt, or deeply poetic, each piece is a spontaneous creation, crafted specifically for each guest, intended for timelessness and a rekindling of genuine human connection.
