The Millay SocietyPreservation Efforts

The principal goals of The Millay Society and the Friends of Millay supporter program are to foster appreciation for Millay's literary legacy and to restore and preserve this unique site, which has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1972.

Current visitors to Steepletop can enjoy viewing the re-claimed gardens, walk the Poetry Trail, and marvel at the expansive vista from the tennis court high above the house. They can also tour the rooms in her home and visit the Exhibition Gallery nearby.

But there is also much to be done to restore the site to its former glory. Not only are there several unrestored rooms within the Main House, but the beautiful pool and bar areas designed and built into the hillside by Vincent and her husband Eugen Boissevain are also in critical need of restoration. The annual contributions provided by members of the Friend of Millay supporter program are helping to make this work possible.

We are a Preservation Project of The Garden Conservancy. Please help us maintain, restore and preserve Steepletop!
